

In steel buildings a hat purlin (also hat channel, omega, Σ-adjacent) is a secondary roof or wall member with a brim on each side. In ceilings the same silhouette is a furring / hat / omega keel. In solar yards it is a strut. Search engines dump all three onto “hat purlin machine.” The roll path, shaft, cut and power are not interchangeable.

A hat is a web, two webs down, and two brims out — like a top hat in section. Omega is the same family with a rounder or deeper trough. Unequal brims behave like an asymmetric channel: the flower has to sequence the returns or the bar twists. Equal brims can form more like a symmetric C, but the brim still needs stations a plain C does not have.
If the drawing is a C or Z with lips, you are on a purlin mill, not a hat mill. If the drawing is a drywall C stud, you are on a stud mill. Send the PDF.

Ω63 (~10 stands / ~3 kW) and Ω100 (~12 stands) sit on the furring wiki as their own rows. They are not the 22 kW strut.
A C/Z interchange mill changes web and flange and, on some packages, flips C to Z. The flower is lips and a web, not two brims. Punch patterns for purlin holes do not become hat slots by renaming the HMI recipe.

No. The brim geometry and the flower are different. A C/Z changeover does not grow a hat.
Wrong duty. Furring C47 is ~4 kW / φ40. The strut line is a 24-pass gearbox mill with tracking cut. Tooling and speed class do not transfer.
For ceiling work, hat / omega usually sit in the furring family. For solar strut and for PEB hat, they are different quotations.
