Highway Guardrail Project Auxiliaries: Bending, Terminal Ends, Repair, and Stacking

1. Scope

A complete highway-guardrail plant is more than the W-beam (two-wave) or thrie-beam (three-wave) main roll-forming line. Site geometry, terminal hardware, damaged-rail recovery, and heavy-panel handling often need separate stations. This page maps those auxiliaries — it does not replace the main-line encyclopedia entries for W2 / W3 / hoist-change packages.

2. Auxiliary families

Industry project packages commonly list bending machines, repair/flattening units, and auto stackers alongside the forming host. Quote each auxiliary as its own named station — do not assume they are bundled into every main-line proposal.

When a project RFQ only says “full guardrail plant,” ask which auxiliaries are in scope before answering with main-line speed or kW figures.

3. What is not an auxiliary

• Structural U / channel lines — structural steel family, not a guardrail project add-on
• Fence picket / top-rail lines — different product family
• Hoist-change W2/W3 dual tooling — still a main beam host configuration, not “aux”
• Post / pile / noise-barrier lines — separate barrier-system equipment families

4. How to quote them

Lock the main host first (dedicated W2, dedicated W3, or hoist-change dual). Then add bending, terminals, repair, and stacking as named options. Thickness and speed ratings stay on the confirmed main-line proposal — this page does not publish a locked thickness band.

A clean RFQ sentence is: “Main host = W2 / W3 / dual; auxiliaries = bend / ends / repair / stack (list which).”

Does the main line always include stacker and bender?

No. Confirm decoiler → level → punch → form → shear → exit on the host first; add bending, terminals, repair, and stack as named options.

Are thickness and speed published here?

No — those belong on the confirmed W2 / W3 / hoist-change proposal. Thickness ranges conflict across source sheets and are not locked on this page.

Is a structural U-channel line part of the guardrail auxiliary set?

No. U / channel equipment is a different product family and must not be mixed into the highway beam auxiliary quote.

Is hoist-change dual tooling an “auxiliary”?

No. Hoist-change is a main-host configuration that produces both wave counts on one footprint — quote it as a dual beam line, not as an add-on station.
