The Omega Purlin Roll Forming Machine is a continuous cold roll forming solution for manufacturing omega purlins, top hat sections, hat-shaped channels, and other customized open steel profiles. It is designed for manufacturers working with CR or GI steel who need stable forming, accurate dimensions, and automated punching and cutting.
With multiple forming stations, PLC control, and a servo flying cutoff system, the production line can continuously transform steel coils into finished structural profiles for construction, roofing, solar mounting, modular buildings, and light steel framing.

The forming section uses 16 forming stations to gradually shape the incoming steel strip. Instead of forming the profile in a single operation, each roller station performs a controlled forming step, helping maintain the required profile geometry throughout production.
The machine supports CR and GI steel with material strength of up to 550 MPa. Standard material thickness ranges from 0.8 to 2.0 mm, while the applicable coil width is approximately 150–300 mm.
The maximum forming speed can reach 20 m/min under suitable production conditions. When punching and cutting are included in the production process, the actual working speed is generally around 5–7 m/min, depending on the profile dimensions, material thickness, hole pattern, and machine configuration.
A servo flying cutoff can cut the formed profile while the production line continues running. This reduces unnecessary stopping and restarting and helps maintain a more consistent production cycle.

One of the main features of this top hat purlin roll forming machine is its ability to be configured for different profile requirements.
Depending on the customer's profile drawing, the machine can manufacture:
Omega purlins
Top hat purlins
Hat sections
Omega channels
Customized open steel profiles
Certain C-shaped structural profiles
The production line can also be equipped with a dedicated punching station. Different punching molds can be selected according to the final application, including single-hole and double-hole punching.
This configuration is useful when the finished purlins need connection holes or mounting openings before they are cut to length.
For solar mounting projects, the same forming principle can be adapted to manufacture customized hat-type solar purlins. Wider profiles, including configurations up to approximately 300 mm, can also be developed according to the required product dimensions.

Accurate dimensions are important when purlins need to connect with other structural components. The Omega Purlin Roll Forming Machine therefore uses a PLC-based control system to coordinate the forming, punching, and cutting operations.
A 21-inch touchscreen provides an interface for setting and monitoring production parameters. The Windows-based control system also supports CSV file import, which can make it easier to manage different production specifications.
Under suitable operating conditions, the machine can achieve approximately ±1–2 mm dimensional accuracy.
This automated control system is particularly useful for manufacturers producing multiple profile specifications. Instead of repeatedly entering every production parameter manually, operators can manage different settings through the control interface and adjust the production configuration according to the order requirements.
The standard configuration of the Omega / Top Hat Purlin Roll Forming Machine includes the following parameters:
| Item | Specification |
|---|---|
| Machine Type | Omega / Top Hat / Hat Purlin Roll Forming Machine |
| Material | CR / GI steel |
| Maximum Material Strength | 550 MPa |
| Material Thickness | 0.8–2.0 mm |
| Coil Width | 150–300 mm |
| Forming Stations | 16 |
| Main Power | Approx. 35 kW |
| Maximum Forming Speed | 20 m/min |
| Working Speed with Punching & Cutting | Approx. 5–7 m/min |
| Punching | Separate punching station |
| Cutting | Servo flying cutoff |
| Accuracy | Approx. ±1–2 mm |
| Maximum Coil Weight | 5 tons |
| Control | PLC + 21-inch touchscreen |
| Software | Windows-based system + CSV file import |
The exact machine configuration is not fixed for every project. Profile dimensions, material thickness, hole positions, cutting length, production speed, and other technical requirements can be used to determine the final equipment configuration.

Finished omega and top hat profiles can be used in various lightweight steel construction applications.
Typical applications include roof trusses, wall framing, ceiling systems, partition structures, modular buildings, and lightweight structural frameworks.
Top hat and omega-shaped sections provide a practical combination of lightweight construction and structural rigidity, making them suitable for projects where profile geometry and installation requirements are important.
For solar mounting systems, customized hat purlins can also be manufactured with specific dimensions and connection-hole arrangements. This allows the same roll forming concept to serve both conventional construction and solar structure production.
Different projects often require different profile geometries. For this reason, the machine can be customized according to the customer's profile drawing, steel grade, thickness, coil width, punching pattern, hole position, and required cutting length.
The production line can be configured to include:
Coil feeding and leveling
Continuous roll forming
Automatic punching
Servo flying cutting
PLC control
Customized forming stations
Different punching patterns
The machine base and forming rollers are designed for continuous production, while the automated control system coordinates the major production operations.
This allows manufacturers to build a production line around their actual product requirements rather than using a single fixed machine configuration.

Omega and top hat profiles are only part of the structural steel profiles that can be produced with roll forming technology.
For manufacturers requiring other open-section profiles, related equipment can include C purlin, Z purlin, U channel, and L angle roll forming machines.
A C purlin machine produces C-shaped profiles commonly used for wall supports, roof structures, floor beams, and light steel framing.
A Z purlin machine is designed for Z-shaped profiles and can be configured with punching, cutting, and other automatic functions for roofing and large steel structures.
U channel and L angle machines can also be customized for applications such as ceiling frameworks, partitions, structural connections, and finishing components.
The appropriate machine depends on the required profile geometry, material specification, production capacity, and application.

It can be configured to manufacture omega purlins, top hat sections, hat purlins, omega channels, and customized open steel profiles according to the required profile drawing.
The standard configuration can process CR and GI steel with material strength up to 550 MPa. The typical material thickness range is 0.8–2.0 mm, with coil widths of approximately 150–300 mm.
The maximum forming speed can reach 20 m/min. When punching and cutting are included, the working speed is generally around 5–7 m/min, depending on the product and production configuration.
The Omega Purlin Roll Forming Machine combines continuous roll forming, PLC automation, punching, and servo cutting to manufacture top hat and omega-shaped steel profiles.
With support for 0.8–2.0 mm CR and GI steel, up to 550 MPa material strength, a maximum forming speed of 20 m/min, and configurable punching and cutting equipment, the machine can be adapted to different construction, framing, and solar mounting applications.
For manufacturers producing customized omega purlins or top hat sections, the final machine configuration can be developed around the required profile drawing and production specifications.
