If you're producing more than 5,000 meters per day, semi-auto or better is a no-brainer. The labor savings pay back the premium in 12-18 months. Below that volume, manual is fine.
What Suppliers Won't Tell You
Motor brand matters more than motor power. A 5.5kW Siemens motor will outlast a 7.5kW no-name motor by years. Ask for the motor brand and look it up.
Roller material is negotiable. Suppliers often default to Cr12MoV. For abrasive materials (stainless steel, pre-painted), ask about D2 or even coated rollers. They cost 20-30% more but last 2-3x longer.
PLC brand affects your spare parts cost. Chinese PLCs (like Delta) are cheap to replace. Mitsubishi or Siemens PLCs are more reliable but parts are 3-5x more expensive. For export machines, I usually recommend Mitsubishi -- the reliability is worth it.
"Free installation" usually means remote video guidance. Real on-site installation costs $1,000-$3,000 plus travel. Get this in writing before you sign.
