Contractors replacing clay tiles with metal
Retrofit and heritage-adjacent work where the roof must keep a tile rhythm. The step press is what sells the appearance; the metal substrate is what keeps the price and the weight down.

950 glazed step tile: 1200 mm coil → 950 mm cover, pitch 190, crown 27, step 150–380 mm, strip 0.3–0.8 mm, ~13 stands on Φ80 shaft, chain drive. Covers inclusions, add-ons, unsuitable roofs.
For roofing contractors, panel producers and project suppliers who need a metal roof that reads as a traditional tile roof - and who need it produced consistently rather than bought in. The line is a single-cover-code machine, so the real question is which code your market's roofs are drawn to, and whether you also need the ridge pieces to match.
Retrofit and heritage-adjacent work where the roof must keep a tile rhythm. The step press is what sells the appearance; the metal substrate is what keeps the price and the weight down.
A plant already running plain roofing sheets that wants a higher-value profile without buying into a completely different trade. Same coil stock, same fixing habits, different tooling.
You will normally need the ridge caps alongside the field tiles. They come off a separate accessory line, so plan them as a second item rather than assuming they are in the same crate.
One delivered example. Final numbers follow your quotation.
| Model | 950 single-layer glazed tile (antique-look stepped tile) forming line ZT-GLAZE-950 |
|---|---|
| Sheet thickness | 0.3–0.8 mm |
| Drive | Chain |
| Power | Main motor 5.5 kW + hydraulic pump station 5.5 kW |
| Speed | Forming 8–12 m/min; working (output) 3–5.5 m/min |
| Cutting | Hydraulic cut-to-length; cutter package (guide-post / mid-plate) fixed by code |
Has only longitudinal corrugations and no transverse tile steps, so it does not belong to the glazed tile process.
A single-layer continuous roof/wall panel, not a tile.
An interlocking-edge roof system; both the process and the equipment are different.
Comes from an independent supporting line (312 / with punching) and is not supplied as part of the tile machine set.
Arch-shaped / curved forming, a different family.
A separate product family.
The working speed (approx. 3–5.5 m/min). The forming speed of 8–12 m/min is only the strip's pass-through speed at the roll stands.
No. Ridge pieces and ridge tiles come from a separate supporting line and must be ordered separately.
Not by means of a “recipe change.” Each code has its own independent roll set and main machine, and constitutes a separate quotation.
