    1.Definition

A 950 glazed step tile roll forming machine is a cold roll forming line that produces a metal roof tile copying the rhythm of a traditional clay tile roof. "950" names the formed cover width: the line takes about 1200 mm of coil and delivers about 950 mm of finished cover, the difference being consumed by the longitudinal rib, the side laps and the tile geometry.

The profile runs from 0.3-0.8 mm pre-painted or galvanized strip, with a pitch of about 190 mm across the width and a crown of about 27 mm. The transverse step - the break that makes the panel read as a tile rather than as a ribbed sheet - is adjustable over about 150-380 mm. The forming host carries about 13 stands on a Φ80 mm shaft with chain drive, on a 5.5 kW main motor and a 5.5 kW hydraulic station.

Two speeds apply, and they are not the same figure. Forming runs at 8-12 m/min, the rate at which strip passes the roller table. Working speed is 3-5.5 m/min, the real production rate once the line's stops to press each tile step and to cut are counted.

    2.What this is not

    Not this machine Why
Not a machine that can also run 828 or 840. Each cover code carries its own rolls, its own stand count and its own power package. A roll set for one code does not make another code's panel by changing a recipe.
Not the same as 950 Arc. Both codes deliver about 950 mm of cover, but 950 Arc runs a pitch of about 158.3 mm, a crown of about 33 mm and about 18 stands on dedicated tooling. Matching cover width does not mean matching tile drawing.
Not a corrugated sheet line. A corrugated line has no transverse step press at all, so it cannot produce the tile rhythm.
Not a trapezoidal roof or wall panel line, and not a standing-seam line.
Not a double- or triple-layer tile line. Those are separate families with their own frames.
Not a ridge cap machine. Ridge caps and accessories come off a separate accessory line.
Not a punched product. There is no in-line punching on this build.
Not an arc, arch or K-span forming machine, which bend a flat sheet into a curve rather than forming a tile section.

    3.How it is formed

Coil is paid off the decoiler with the painted face kept to the side the roof will show. The strip is then guided onto the machine centre line - and levelled where the build includes it - so the panel runs true and the side laps finish square. About thirteen driven stands then build the longitudinal rib and outer profile a bend at a time, which keeps the coating intact through the forming pass.

The distinctive stage follows: a hydraulic press stamps the tile step across the running panel at the set interval. That press is why the line works in cycles rather than continuously, and therefore why the working speed is published well below the forming speed. The panel is then cut to length on the hydraulic shear, whose cutter package - guide-post or mid-plate - is fixed with the cover code rather than chosen at the machine. Finished tiles discharge onto the exit table, and the first piece of each batch is checked against the signed section drawing before the run continues.

    4.Published numbers on this mill

The figures below belong to the 950 cover code. They have not been averaged with 828, 828B, 950 Arc or 1100, and they are not taken from a custom non-standard build. Where a value depends on the customer's drawing, it is left to the signed drawing instead of being published as a universal figure.

    Item 950 cover code
Tile type Single-layer glazed step tile
Feed width to formed cover About 1200 mm to about 950 mm
    Thickness 0.3-0.8 mm
Material Pre-painted or galvanized steel coil
    Pitch About 190 mm
    Crown About 27 mm
Step band Adjustable over about 150-380 mm
    Forming stands About 13
    Shaft Φ80 mm
    Drive Chain
    Forming speed 8-12 m/min
    Working speed 3-5.5 m/min
Power Main motor 5.5 kW + hydraulic station 5.5 kW
Cut Hydraulic cut-to-length; cutter package fixed with the code
Punching None in line on this build

Exact widths, the step figure within the band, the lap detail and the cut lengths are frozen on the signed customer drawing before the rolls are manufactured. Roof system capacity and wind-uplift design are settled by the project's own specification and testing rather than published here.

    5.FAQ

Is 950 the width of coil I should buy?
No. 950 is the formed cover width. The line feeds about 1200 mm, so coil is bought to the feed width stated on the signed proposal.

Why does the same machine show two speeds?
Because they measure two different things. 8-12 m/min is the forming speed of the roller table; 3-5.5 m/min is the working speed, which includes stopping to press each tile step and to cut. Production should be planned from the working speed.

Can it also produce 828 or 840?
No. Each cover code has its own rolls and its own power package. A different code is a different machine quotation, not a setting change.

How is 950 different from 950 Arc?
Cover width is the same, about 950 mm. The differences are in the tile itself: 950 Arc runs a pitch of about 158.3 mm and a crown of about 33 mm with about 18 stands and dedicated tooling, against about 190 mm, about 27 mm and about 13 stands for the standard 950. Matching cover width does not make them the same machine.

    Is the step spacing fixed?
No - it is adjustable over about 150-380 mm. Pitch and crown stay fixed with the profile drawing.

    Does it punch holes?
There is no in-line punching on this build. Fastening detail follows the drawing and the fixing method.

    Are ridge caps included?
No. Ridge caps and accessories come off a separate accessory line and are ordered separately, even when they are for the same roof.

What does the buyer have to send with an inquiry?
The tile drawing or at least pitch, crown and the step figure wanted; coil width and weight; thickness, grade and coating; the lengths sold; working voltage; whether ridge caps are also needed; and the destination port.
