ZT-GUARDRAIL Two-Wave W-Beam Highway Guardrail Roll Forming Line

The ZT-GUARDRAIL G1 two-wave line takes galvanized or pre-painted steel coil in at one end and delivers finished two-wave (W2) W-beam highway guardrail beams out the other — levelled, punched, roll formed and cut to length in one continuous pass.
- ● Two-wave W2 W-beam from steel coil, one pass: decoil → level → punch → form → shear → discharge.
- ● Standard line: 2–4 mm Q235B/Q350 strip (material hardness 350 MPa or below), about 16 forming stands, gearbox drive, about 15 m/min forming and about 10 m/min with punching and shearing in line.
- ● Pre-punch, then form, then cut: holes are made while the strip is still flat, so the finished beam needs no secondary drilling.
- ● HMI with length encoder and a bilingual Chinese / English interface; control brand Panasonic, Delta or Siemens.
- ● Voltage and frequency configured to the destination country, and the profile and thickness band frozen against your technical proposal — not assumed from this page.
What this machine makes
The ZT-GUARDRAIL two-wave W-beam line turns steel coil into finished highway guardrail beams. Galvanized or pre-painted strip is levelled, punched, roll formed into the two-wave W-beam profile and cut to length in one continuous pass. The finished beam is the horizontal rail that bolts to posts along the edge of a road.
This page covers the two-wave (W2) W-beam line only. The three-wave thrie-beam line is a different machine, and the U-post mill, fence panel mill and sound barrier lines are separate equipment as well.
Line layout
- Feed — The coil is loaded at the decoiler end and fed into the line.
- Level — The strip passes through the leveller, which removes coil set before any forming takes place.
- Punch — The flattened strip moves to the punching station, where the end holes and the middle holes are made.
- Form — The punched strip runs through about 16 forming stands and takes the two-wave W-beam section.
- Shear — The formed beam is cut to length by a hydraulic rear shear with a Cr12MoV blade.
- Discharge — The finished beam discharges onto the run-out table for collection or further handling.
Gearbox drive with rear shear is the recommended arrangement. A chain drive is available as an alternative, and a front shear arrangement is a variant; the final choice is fixed in the technical proposal.

Machine details

What's included (standard supply)
- ● Complete set of stations as quoted: feed, levelling, punching, forming, cutting and discharge.
- ● Forming stands on a 400# I-beam frame, driven through a gearbox train.
- ● Hydraulic power unit for punching and shearing, with Cr12MoV tooling as quoted.
- ● Electrical control system with HMI, length encoder and bilingual (Chinese / English) interface.
- ● Random spare parts: relays, travel switches and standard tools.
- ● Factory test run before shipment, with an English installation layout drawing.
- ● Anti-rust coating and bare packing (wooden cases available on request).
- ● Operation manual and wiring diagrams.
Not in this crate (not included)
- ● The three-wave thrie-beam (W3) mill. Two-wave and three-wave are two separate machines, not one machine with two settings. A hoist-change line that runs both is quoted separately and is not part of this offer.
- ● U-post forming mills for guardrail posts, and mesh fence or fence panel machines.
- ● Sound barrier and wind-dust suppression panel lines.
- ● Bending and arching machines, end formers, guardrail repair machines and stackers — these are project auxiliaries, quoted as options.
- ● Sea freight, customs clearance, foundation work, and the travel, visa, board and lodging costs of an overseas installation technician.
Options (quoted separately)
- ● Bending / arching machine, end former and guardrail repair machine for complete guardrail projects.
- ● Automatic stacking after the shear.
- ● Supporting unit for customers who already own a forming mill: decoiler with coil car, levelling with servo feed, punching press and hydraulic shear, supplied as one package or as individual items.
- ● Chain drive instead of gearbox drive.
- ● Control brand: Panasonic, Delta or Siemens.
- ● Wooden case packing instead of bare packing.
- ● Voltage and frequency configured to destination country.
Why choose the ZT-GUARDRAIL two-wave line
- ● Gearbox drive with rear shear is the recommended arrangement on this class; chain drive is the alternative and front shear is a variant, so the transmission can be matched to your duty rather than fixed by the catalogue.
- ● Pre-punch, form, then cut: the holes are made while the strip is still flat, and the shear runs behind the forming section, so the beam leaves the line finished — no secondary drilling or trimming.
- ● Forming stands carried on a 400# I-beam frame, with tooling as quoted.
- ● Cr12MoV tooling at the punching and shearing stations.
- ● Electrical control with HMI, length encoder and a bilingual (Chinese / English) interface, on Panasonic, Delta or Siemens class components as ordered.
- ● Factory test run before shipment, and an English installation layout drawing issued for site planning.
- ● Random spare parts (relays, travel switches, standard tools) ship with the machine, and the voltage and frequency are configured to your plant.

FAQ
Do I need the two-wave machine or the three-wave machine?
They are different machines. A two-wave line forms the W2 W-beam section; a three-wave line forms the thrie-beam section. Tell us the profile drawing or the standard number you must meet, and we will quote the correct one. If you expect to run both sections, the hoist-change line is quoted separately.
What thickness and material can the line run?
Typically 2–4 mm Q235B or Q350 strip, with a material hardness of 350 MPa or below. The exact thickness band depends on the confirmed profile, so the thickness is fixed against your technical proposal rather than assumed from a catalogue.
How fast is the line?
Forming runs at about 15 m/min. With punching and shearing in line, the practical output is about 10 m/min. Work out your hourly output from the beam length you need — the line delivers finished guardrail beams at the cut-to-length station, so the number of beams per hour depends on the beam length and the cutting sequence, not on the forming speed alone.
Are the holes punched before or after forming?
The strip is punched as flat strip, before forming, and the beam is cut to length after forming. The end holes and the middle holes are made at the punching station; the shear that follows the forming section cuts the finished beam to length.
What do you need from me to quote?
The profile drawing or the standard number , the strip thickness and material, the voltage at your site, and whether you need the full line or only the supporting unit.
